Motion Tracker
One of our researchers at Utrecht University wanted to create a tracker that had to be light and portable, waterproof and, of course, able to track motion. These requirements meant that this project was as much a conversation between designer and technician as it was a physical build.
I started the process by selecting a pre-fabricated waterproof watch strap available commercially. With this watch strap, I then used Autodesk Fusion to design a housing that could fit the components.
Once the housing was complete the components of the motion tracker could be inserted to check the fit. At this point it was also important to check if the wall thickness and ruggedness would be sufficient to allow manipulation in the housing without breakage.
